The Best Make-up for Your Skin Tone

Depending on your skin tone, the make-up you choose will need to flatter your face and hair. If you apply the wrong colors, you're not doing yourself a favor -- and you can look all washed out, or overdone. Play up your features with the best make-up colors, tints and hues for your skin tone.

Make-up for Fair Skin

If you're fair-skinned, sheer colors look best on you. Apply light earth tones and soft pastels, such as blue and lavender to accent your eyes.
Various shades of pink will look good on your eyes, cheeks and lips. Keep your mascara to brown or brown/black. Light, sheer lipstick adds a finishing touch. Peach is always a good choice for our fair-skinned friends, it looks natural and compliments blonde hair.

Medium Toned Skin

Your warmer completion gives you many options for a fabulous makeover. Being "in-between" does have it's benefits. Deep matte earth tones and jewel colors such as hunter green, dark grey, beige and brown will accent your eyes. Coral and plumb colors work good to accentuate your cheekbones.
Experiment with your lip color. Your skin tone is very versatile and if you're brunette, anything from pink to red will look great on you. Top it off with lip gloss for extra staying power. Bronzing powder dusted over your forehead, nose and cheeks will give you the ultimate sun-kissed look.

Makeup for Dark Skin

You may need a heavier hand when applying make-up to dark skin -- but you need to choose the right shades. For eye shadow, gray, brown and natural shades will compliment your eyes. Also try shimmer colors such as silver, bronze, and terra-cotta. Experiment with mascara colors such as navy and dark purple.
For blush, more pigment for darker skin is a must. Deep rose and apricot shades highlight your cheekbones beautifully. Sometimes a bronze highlighter does the trick. Stay away from anything with a strong orange base as this will not flatter your skin.
Dark lip color such as apricot, blackberry, caramel and red will compliment your lips.

Olive and Ethnic Skin Tones

With your darker skin tone, neutral shades as well as dark purple and blue will look great on your eyes. Metallic colors also look remarkable, as long as the shades remain darker.
Highlight your cheekbones with bronzing powder, dark plum, chestnut, or terracotta blush. Keep the tones natural and avoid anything too light.
Lipstick shades that will bring out your lips are berry, plum, russet, or almond. Avoid "true" reds, they will clash with your skin tone.

Try new color combinations

I'm trying to get my head around why in New Zealand people love to dress in black! I understand that the All Blacks are a big part of the culture; but apart from wearing it in a rugby context, black  is a very boring and depressing color to wear everyday! I call black the "colour eater" because it makes people look pale and older!

Well, this season is all about color! I assure you that after you start wearing some bright colors you will love it and never stop! Try new combinations, get out of your comfort zone! wear your best colors closer to your face! Dont forget to use color in you accesories: shoes, jewellery, scarfs!!

Here are some color combinations to try out this season:

  • Fuchsia and pale yellow
  • Fuchsia and orange
  • Emerald green and  red
  • Purple and orange
  • Red and pink
  • Midnight blue and teal

Do you want to look stylish? Try this...

As I say again and again to my clients: clothing alone doesn't do STYLE! It's by adding the accesories that we can reflect our unique personality style, celebrating who we are! Accesories are as important as clothes and often ignored. What are accessories? shoes, handbags, scarfs, jewellery, hats.

I personaly love shoes! They change the look of any outfit, but remember to get shoes with some style (color, shine, details, heels)!! This season color shoes are in every store. Number One has a new range from World. Red shoes are the easiest to combine and green or orange is a good color for a handbag!!
Have fun!!

The Perfect Accesory!

Be stylish, sophisticated and innovative!!

I love scarfs!! Like a piece of jewelry, makes a great accessory. It can dress up a T-shirt, or make that black dress look brighter and more casual.

Try matching your scarf to your shoes or clutch to really tie your look together and turn a few heads.

How to wear bright shoes

How to wear bright shoes
Here are a few basic rules:
  • Match your shoes with a color in your top.
  • Wear several brights of the same intensity. By this I mean, for instance, wearing a blue dress, with a red clutch and a yellow handbag.- sure it's daring but it's also modern, creative and it works.
  • Match bright shoes with the same color handbag or belt
  • Wear bright shoes with a neutral ensemble. This is my favorite look. Brights really pop against beige, tan, white and black outfits. You don’t need to match shoes with your handbag or pick up another colour in your ensemble.
  • Match bright shoes with a scarf or necklace that picks up the same colour

This spring BRIGHTS shoes are a big trend!!Try it!
